The Arunachal postal department today released a special cover on former Chief Minister, late Dorjee Khandu in a simple ceremony held at its head office at Itanagar on Sunday.
The special cover was brought out to commemorate late Dorjee Khandu’s contribution in the field of development in Arunachal on his 6th death anniversary.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra and Health Parliamentary Secretary Phurpa Tsering participated in the release function.

Shri Dorjee Khandu was a man who lived his entire life for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. His demise was an unfortunate event for you and for all the people of Arunachal Pradesh. Although his soul rests in eternal peace in the life beyond, he will forever remain alive in the hearts and minds of everyone in Arunachal.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister thanked the postal department for bringing out the special cover in memory of late Dorjee Khandu honouring his work. He also thanked the department on behalf of all his family members.
Recalling the developmental activities of late Dorjee Khandu, the CM said, “All the major development projects of the state that we see today were started during his tenure. Now almost all of these projects are completed while few are on the verge of completion.”
The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support in completion of these projects and for his concern and care for early completion of all the ongoing projects.
Earlier paying tribute to late Dorjee Khandu, an official from postal departmental spoke on his contribution to development of the state.
In his short tenure, late Drojee Khandu initiated the Trans-Arunachal highway, 4-lane highway from Banderdewa to Hollongi, 2-lane highway to all district headquarters, green-field airport for Itanagar, and railway connectivity in the state. In addition, he initiated the construction of civil secretariat building, state Assembly building and a medical college in the state.
Under his leadership, Arunachal scout was raised to induct local youths in the defence forces, revived the Apex bank, implemented the sixth pay commission and initiated hydropower development in the state. For his contribution, late Dorjee Khandu was conferred the prestigious Karamveer Award by the Indigenous Faith Society of Arunachal Pradesh.
