Arunachal Pradesh shone yet again in the field of tourism as it bagged the National Leadership Award in best Tourism initiative in Northeast Region at the National Tourism Conclave being hosted by Govt of Punjab at Chandigarh.
Minister for Local bodies, Tourism & Culture of Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu handed over the prize to Dr. Joram Beda, Secretary Tourism of Arunachal Pradesh in an impressive function at Chandigarh today.
The Tourism department under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu had initiated a number of innovative initiatives such as Brand ambassador, national branding campaign, financial subsidy to tour operators and homestay owners, tourist police, bio toilets for remotely located dhabas, scheme to invite bloggers and photojournalists, etc. which fetched this prestigious award.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has congratulated team Tourism for the rare achievement. He called for a concerted effort and hardwork to make the tourism industry bloom in Arunachal Pradesh.
“It is just a beginning”, he said while adding, “we need to exhaust all out means to expand this rich tourism potential into economic gain engine which besides providing handsome income, gives ample job opportunities to our youths”.
