The 12 hrs dawn to dusk APCC sponsored capital bandh passed off peacefully with few stray incident. The 12 hrs bandh call given by the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee on major demand to release of Principal Secretary (Home) Satya Gopal who is under transfer.

In early morning today few stray incident of road blockage by the congress supporters by tyre burning in several places of Itanagar which was foiled by the police and security forces.

APCC sponsored 12 hrs capital bandh passed off peacefullyParliamentary Secretary(Home & Education) Pani Taram,   Chief Secretary SD Gamlin, IGP (Law & Order) Nobin Payeng, DC Capital Prince Dhawan, SP Capital Dr. A Koan along with several Sector Magistrate played their important role in foiling the bandh with the help of security forces and they were trying to open the business establishment in Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa.

Gradually the day comes up the shops and business establishment open their shutters. The attendance were 40 % early day but increase to 70-80 % in AP Secretariat while many financial institutions and banks manage to shut down their shutters after opening for an hour. Various automobile dealers and few Shopping Malls were close whole day and did not open inspite of bandh call illegal by the district magistrate promoglutted by DM Prince Dhawan.

Vehicle were plying normally on road early with the help of police escorts while freely in day, attendance in many schools and colleges were thin, while this scribe went to seen many office and find that the attendance were thin in morning till 11 AM and gradually it increase.

Parliamentary Secretary (Home& Education) visited almost all the markets of the capital complex and discussed about the ill impact of bandh culture and appeal the shopkeeper to open their shops and normalised their business unlike other day and assure full support of the administration at any time. He also thanks one and all for cooperation.

Taram also inform that two cases have been registered in connection with the bandh call at Itanagar Police Station

On the other hand through a press release  the district administration  said that the ” Capital Complex with the help of Police & Paramilitary forces and other line Departments has successfully handled the illegal Bandh call given by the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). The efforts of the District Administration yielded positive results and there was no any report of any untoward incident which may cause inconvenience to the denizens of Capital Complex.

The Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex  Prince Dhawan IAS informed that all the Magistrates and Police force were on round on their routes since yesterday night.  The DC informed that adequate security measures were taken to neutralize the effect of Bandh Call. Moreover, Security forces from various Districts were also requisitioned to tackle any law and order problems during the Bandh Call. A Control Room was also set up in the Office of the DC and all the Executive Magistrates were directed to submit their reports regarding law and order situation of their respective area every 30 minutes to the Control Room. The phone number of the control room and the magistrates were also circulated in every possible way and the public was asked to contact in those numbers to report any untoward incident. He also informed that all the Public Transport vehicles and Private vehicles were plying normally with the numbers increasing as the day progressed and most of the markets were opened by 10am. The DC stressed that the District Administration has showed that we have zero tolerance towards such menace.

Further, the DC lauded the efforts of the Magistrates and Police and all the line departments as a result of which, all the business establishment, educational institutions, petrol depots, APST buses etc functioned as usual.

The DC has also thanked the Itanagar Market Welfare Association, Market Welfare Association of Naharlagun and Nirjuli and Transport Federations for their cooperation in neutralising the Bandh call.
