At least fifteen people were killed and another 30 were injured in a stampede at the foot over bridge at Mumbai’s Elphinstone Road station on Friday.
The incident occurred due to heavy rains at Mumbai’s Elphinstone Road station during morning peak hours on Friday.
An eyewitness, the incident took place when , “Commuters started panicking after somebody shouted that the bridge was collapsing and that there was a short circuit. People started pushing and those in the middle of the stairs fell. Many commuters who tried to escape through the railing got stuck.”
Railway officials said that the stampede occurred to due overcrowding and heavy rainfall, It is not a bridge collapse.
