Chowna Mein’s Assurance of starting Renovation work of road lead to RGU soon

Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein assured to start the renovation work of 1.3 km stretch of road from Emchi, Doimukh Tri-junction to the Rajiv Gandhi University Gate within 10 days. He made this assurance while attending the Fresher’s Orientation cum Induction Programme of new executive members of Rajiv Gandhi University Student’s Union at Rono Hills in Doimukh today.
While citing, “RGU as the highest seat of learning for the students of Arunachal Pradesh”, Mein said that though Rajiv Gandhi University is a Central University funded by the Central Govt but it being the premier institute of Arunachal Pradesh, State Govt also has a responsibility towards the development of this higher institution. He said to keep separate fund provision for the infrastructure development of the University in the coming State budget 2018-19.
Further responding to the memorandum submitted by the Student body, Mein assured to provide fund for construction of a Rostrum (VIP Gallery), improvement of water supply in the University Campus, installation of street lights and other requirements in the next budget. On renaming of University nomenclature from Rajiv Gandhi University to Arunachal University as submitted in the memorandum, he said to take up the matter in the cabinet for discussion.
He further said that many young talents are hidden in the State and the efforts are on to provide facilities to the budding talents of the State in skill development, research and entrepreneurship training for self-employment. He urged the Faculty Members to strengthen the Research & Development Wings of the University as Arunachal Pradesh is one of the Biodiversity hotspots of the world and research are yet to be done in many plant species.
While citing his keenness to learn in the field of education, he urged the Vice-Chancellor and the Faculty Members of the University to invite him, the ministers and the legislators in important seminars and conference whenever held in the university not as a guest but as a participant.
Mein advised the new executive members of the University Student Body to develop leadership quality and imbibe the spirit of cooperation and oneness among the students and to lead the student body in right direction.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tamo Mibang in his speech reminded the students of their objective in joining the university and urged them to commit sincerely and dedicatedly to their bounded duties and contribute in the development of the State and the Nation. He said that the University stands for Nation’s development and RGU is the symbol of PAN Arunachal. Saying, “Without works, there can not be genius”, he further advised the student to set an example for others to follow.
Prof T Kaye, Giogi Aja, President, Vikash Dada, General Secretary, Meena Lego, Woman Secretary and Prem Taba, former General Secretary of RGUSU also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Mein inaugurated the new building of the Department of Chemistry, Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills.
