World Heart Day observed in OWA Campus

Papum Pare district non-communicable disease cell in collaboration with Oju Welfare Association (OWA) headed by chairperson Ratan Anya. observed World Heart Day 2019 by conducting maiden health check-up in OWA campus here on Friday.

The check-up, themed ‘My Heart Your Heart’, was conducted by NCD district programme officer Dr R R Ronya, TRIMHS medicine specialist-cum-National Programme for Health Care of Elderly nodal officer Dr Ram Ratan and TRIMHS NCD nodal officer Dr Gomi Basar which benefitted about 98 OWA staff and neighbours, mostly young girls and women.

In all 17 staff, including three physiotherapists, one each staff nurse, Lab technician, counselor, epidemiologist and other NCD staff assisted in conducting general health check-up including body mass index (BMI), blood sugar test, offering counseling and free medicines.

“Though World Heart Day is observed this day as an annual event, but such health check-up camps are conducted from time to time to bring mass awareness about various non-communicable diseases, like diabetics, hypertension, cancer, cardio vascular disorder, pluminary diseases etc which neither infect others not communicates with the victims,” said Dr Ronya.

In such type of camps many people have been detected with the  diseases which are curable and lives could be saved. Healthy life style, healthy food, exercises, yogas and weight reduction are always advised to lead a health life and that is what we are doing,  she added.
