Arunachal Assembly condemns killing of Tirong Aboh, 10 others
Cabinet has recommended the Aboh killing case be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The members of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday condemned the brutal killing of National People’s Party (NPP) legislator Tirong Aboh, his son and nine others in an ambush by militants in Tirap district of the State last Month.
Taking part in the obituary reference in respect of late Aboh, most of the MLAs from Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts, which have been tagged as ‘disturbed area’ under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, denounced and expressed their sadness over the dastardly act of the underground elements.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu while condoling the sad and untimely demise of the young legislator from Khonsa West, blamed the successive Union Governments for not taking any significant steps towards solving the insurgency problem, which started off in early 1990’s in the TCL region.
Mr Khandu assured that his Government will not let an incident of this magnitude repeat itself. Admitting that there were few lacunaes in the police system previously, especially in the TLC region, Mr Khandu said that reforms were needed in the sector.
The new government, he said, is hence committed to strengthen the law and order of the region.
Echoing the sentiments of many legislators who cutting across political affiliations opined that the widow of Aboh be elected to the Legislative Assembly, should she wish to enter politics, the CM said he will soon hold a meeting with the leaders of all the parties to ensure the same.
He said the Cabinet has recommended the Aboh killing case be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), adding that the proposal has been sent to the premier probe agency which will start investigating the case.

Taking serous note of constant security threats to the leaders of the three insurgency-infested districts, Mr Khandu told the House that he has instructed the Home Department to provide bulletproof vehicles to the legislators of TCL region whenever they visit their constituencies.
He exuded confidence that with the Narendra Modi government in the Centre and a full-fledged BJP Government installed in the State, the results will now be seen in the coming days.
Terming it as a dastardly act, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein condemned the brutal killing of the MLA and 10 others. He also suggested the State government to form ‘Anti-Terrorist Force’ to tackle the menace.
Condemning the brutal killing, Home Minister Bamang Felix said he will not allow such groups to flourish who perpetrates such inhuman and uncivilised act. He said the government will leave no stone unturned to nab the assassins at the earliest.
While NPP legislature party leader Mutchu Mithi said, “I have never witnessed this kind of massacre. There should be speedy investigation. This incident has to be condemned by every people.”
He also said that late Aboh’s wife should be nominated as a member in the House.
As a mark of respect to the departed soul of Aboh and 10 others, the House observed a two minutes silence and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
