Arunachal: Thousands of patients throng at Health Mela

Thousands of patients from different parts of the district thronged Gumin Kiin to register their names for various ailments in the Health Mela organised by district administration in collaboration with District Health Society Aalo at Gumin Kiin today.
This Health Mela, conceived by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare govt of India and funded under National Rural Health Mission will be an annual event to be held in each MP constituencies to ameliorate the health condition of the people with free medicines and screening of ailments.
Inaugurating the Mela amid cheer and applause, Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home Affairs said that the govt of India has embarked upon the biggest health insurance scheme in the world to provide Rs. 5 lacs annually to each patient involving 50 crore people in India.
All out effort is being made to streamline the health delivery system to the doorsteps of poor and needy people free of cost so that they do not reel under pains and agonies for want of medical treatments outside.
He disclosed that he had managed many sophisticated medical equipment’s, ambulances, mortuary vans, medicines etc. from various corporate, voluntary organisations, MPLADs for various govt. and semi-govt. hospitals of the state from his own mobilisations to improve the health service system every where.
The MOS who travelled Itanagar-Ziro-Daporijo-Aalo-Pangin by road expressed his total dismay over the pathetic roads condition within these long stretches and disclosed that govt. in the centre has done its duty to work out comprehensive packages for road developments in this region way back in 2008 when he was elected as MP and reviewed it with state Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs of the respective districts to quicken up the pace of road works after assuming post of State Minister for Home in 2012.
The time taken to give needful clearances, anomalies in working out the land compensations and wastage of crores of rupees are coming out as stumbling block in the timely completion of road works in many places of the state and assured to take up the matter with the state govt. soon.
Water scarcity in Aalo town is one of the key issue that preys the mind of dwellers and an ambitious proposal sent by the state govt. is being taken due care, he said.
West Siang Deputy Commissioner, Sode Potom spelt out the detail plans being taken up to make the Health Camp a people’s event and all out effort will be made to give medical coverage to all registered patients which is likely to go beyond the schedule date from 26th and 27th considering the turn up of patients for the Mela.
