Itanagar
The Itanagar cleanliness drive organised under the banner of Ex-Delhi University Students which was kicked off by Parliament Secretary, Tourism, Mr. Pasang D Sona on Saturday at Ganga.
While addressing the massive volunteers Mr. Sona said, Itanagar is our City we need to keep it clean. He said if all of us keep our own houses and surroundings clean if we don’t litter in public places then automatically we can keep our city clean and it is our responsibility to do so.
The cleanliness drive was participated by Parliamentary Secretary, Health, Mr Phurpa Tsering, Parliament Secretary, RWD, Mr Jambey Tashi, Parliament Secretary Planning, Mr Zingnoo Namchoom, and e MLA Tawang, Mr. Tsering Tashis along with Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Sonam Chombay.
As our capital Itanagar has been ranked as third dirties city in last year’s Swach Sarvekshan survey, which we think is utterly humiliating for the dwellers of Itanagar.
The basic aim of conducting Social Service was to generate social awareness to denizens of our capital on cleanliness and try to imbibe sense of belongingness in the minds of capital dwellers that the city belongs to all of us. Many lives in this city, get their livelihoods and earns in crores but nobody is having a sense of paying it back to the city that has given them so much besides Identity. Therefore we feel it is time for all of us to own up the responsibility together and join hands to shed off the “humiliating tag” as Dwellers of third dirtiest City of India.
Though, the EDUS has taken the lead, but since the city belongs to all of us so it was massively supported by NGOS like United Charity, ANSU, HOPE, Arunachal’s Got Talent, Itanagar Hawkers Association, Itanagar Municipal Council and Councillors Ms. Lishi Yapu, Kipa Takum, Gora Lotak. With this the EDUS has started a yeoman services to the state with their humble beginning to give a facelift to the state. Mr. Gumjum Haider who has serve the student bodies in various capacity had spearheaded this unprecedented program. He opined that every citizens of this frontier state must do their bits to give a facelift and to change the scenario of the state.
