The arrested Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Chief Municipal Executive Officer (CMEO) Dr. Olik Taring and his allege accomplice and middlemen Nitesh Kumar Mishra are sent to 10 days custody , informed SIC SP Dr. Pranav Tayal.
Tayal informed that, “the officer was arrested in connection vide case No-14/2018 u/s-409, 420, 201, 506, 120(B) IPC, RW 13 1 (C), (D), B (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act for their alleged involvement in multi-crore cash-for-job scam of Itanagar Municipal Corporation.
The case was registered on August 10 while warrant was issued on August 14 and the police was looking for him.

Both of them were arrested from a hotel near Rajkot Road in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on the intervening night of 21 and 22 August. with the help of the Uttarakhand Police after he absconded from Itanagar. The Arunachal Pradesh Police obtained a one-week transit remand to bring the two men to Itanagar via New Delhi and Guwahati, Informed Mr Tayal.
Meanwhile a corruption case was registered on August 10 against Taring and a few other officials on the basis of a magisterial inquiry report related to appointment of 170 vacancies in the Itanagar Municipal Corporation.

SIC, the anti-corruption wing of the state police was acting on an enquiry by Itanagar district administration following a complaint by All Arunachal Unemployed Engineers Association.
The sources said that few more officials/persons are under the scanner of SIC in the said graft case and SIC may arrest to carry further smooth investigation to unearth the scam which have jolted the IMC which is only around 5 years old.
