Khandu appreciated the suggestion on need to rope in universities in the state to introduce research projects on national security and challenges for Arunachal Pradesh. This he said would create awareness amongst university students who will be shaping the future schools of thought. He assured to take up the suggestion with the RGU authorities.
Spreading its wings to Arunachal Pradesh, the Forum is currently conducting symposiums titled ‘Vyakhyan on National Security & its challenges and Himalaya-Hind Mahadagar Rashtra Samuh’. One was conducted on October 16 at Dera Natung Govt College, Itanagar and the other is scheduled for October 18 at Jawaharlal Nehru College at Pasighat.
Lt Gen (Rtd) Singh informed that the symposium at DNGC was a big success with students attending in huge numbers, wherein girls outnumbered boys. Besides the FANS members, speakers included the likes of Prof Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh, Prof H S Yadav, Director, NERIST, Nirjuli, Y D Thongchi, President, Arunachal Literary Society, Bengia Tolum, President, Nyishi Elite Society, and others. The first symposium was attended by Mama Natung, Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and Water Resources as Chief Guest.
Lt Gen (Rtd) Singh, with his past experience in the state, congratulated Khandu for the rapid progress that the state has made in all fields during the last few years. He remembered former Chief Minister, Late Dorjee Khandu, as a dedicated and visionary leader, who literally laid the foundations for development of Arunachal Pradesh. He specifically hailed the initiative of the former Chief Minister to raise the Arunachal Scouts wing of the Indian Army and informed that he closely coordinated with Late Dorjee Khandu in clearing the decks for establishment of Arunachal Scouts during his posting in the state.
