On interrogation, Kajal Mandal, Subash Mandal and Tojing Binggeb disclosed that the trio get heroin (drugs) from their 4th friend, Manu Barman. On further interrogation, Manu Barman revealed that he bought Heroin from one Lokam Lulu, S/O Shri Lokam Tassar, MLA of Koloriang, presently residing at Damsite, Naharlagun.
The SP Capital has been receiving inputs about his involvement in drug trafficking since the last few months. The Police also raided his house in July, but unfortunately the raid was unsuccessful.
SP Capital constituted a team consisting of Rike Kamsi, SDPO Naharlagun, Insp K Yangfo, OC PS Naharlagun, SI Binam Pertin, SI Giogi Tape and party and carried out a raid at the residence of Lokam Lulu located at Dam site but he was found absent from his residence. However, a search was made in the residence in presence of his family members but, no contraband was found.
On further inquiry, the family members informed that he is staying with his wife Dagbi Rime in the residence of a Rtd Sr. Govt Officer. Accordingly, under close monitoring, the team conducted a search in the said residence on Sunday. During the search, more than 10 grams of suspected heroin, cash amounting to Rs. 97,500/- suspected to be proceeds from the sale of drugs & a large number of empty vials etc were recovered.
Lokam Lulu admitted that the recovered Heroin belong to him, informed the police officer.
Seizure was made in presence of Executive Magistrate Laxmi Dodum. He added.
Accordingly, a case with NLG PS Case No. 165/19 U/S 21(b) of NDPS Act was registered. The accused, Manu Barman and Lokam Lulu have been arrested. Further investigation is being carried out to track the source of recovered drugs, added the SP .
However, when contacted MLA Lokam Tassar said that drug is damaging the precious life of youths and is affecting the health of the youths of state. He also said that he has been advocating against the use of drug and emphasising the setting up of proper Rehabilitation centre and de-addiction centres in various parts of state.
Tassar further appealed all parents to monitor their children so that they in any way do not get addicted to drugs and come in contact with drug peddlers.
