Itanagar: Arogya Mela at IG Park concludes

The State-level Arogya Mela organized in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Ayush and state Ayush ministry concluded today here at IG Park.
The three-day fair, exhibited and highlighted a comprehensive health fair displaying the strengths and potentials of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homeopathy. Participants also demonstrated traditional healing practices/uses of common medicinal plants by traditional healers. Free health check up by Ayush physicians and free medicines were also organised.
Talking to The media, DHS Director M Lego informed different components of Ayush, Unani, Homeo etc from Delhi, Tripura, Assam participated in the fair. Around twenty stalls were occupied, he added. He said that purpose of the fair was to create awareness among people about Ayush system of medicine, which were practiced for thousands of years.
He further informed that though conducted on short notice from the ministry, the mela was successfully organized which witnessed huge participation from public. Speaking about good turnout of people in Unani section, Lego said Unani as an alternative system of medicine will be beneficial for people if made aware of.
In this modern days, it is important to maintain a healthy balance between mind, body and spirit, and we need such a system which will bring all these in equilibrium state, he said.
Throwing more light on Ayush as an alternative medicine system, DHS Director said that Aysuh facilitates preventive and less or no side effects as compared to Allopathic medicine system which is curative in nature. Further our state is bestowed with medicinal plants locally available and affordable for people.
Earlier on Thursday, Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang inaugurated the fair at IG Park.
