Arunachal: Commissioner WCD inspects Child Care Institutions run by OWA

In the wake of rising reports of child sexual abuse in Child Care Institutions nationwide, Gamli Padu, Commissioner, Women and Child Development ( WCD ) and Smti. T.P. Loyi, Director, WCD Dept. inspected the Child Care Institutions (CCIs) run by Oju Welfare Association ( OWA ) and Missionaries of Charity today here at Naharlagun.
The duo interacted with the children and staff of both the CCIs, which are registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and are providing temporary shelter, food, counseling, vocational training and schooling to children in need of care and protection as per the provisions of the Act.
Besides they also visited Specialised Adoption Agency ( SAA), Swadhar Greh and Women Helpline (WHL) run by Oju Welfare Association at Naharlagun and expressed their satisfaction on the management of the Institutions.
As per Section 41 (1) of the Juvenile Justice ( Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, all institutions whether run by State Govt. or by voluntary or non- governmental organisations, which are meant, either wholly or partially, for housing children in need of care and protection or children in conflict with law are to be registered under the Act.
