The selection of four Chakma candidates in the list of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination has turned in to serious issue in the state. Both the student organisation All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU) and Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students’ Union (APCSU ) are standing face-to-face on the issue of selection of four Chakma candidates in the list of APPSCCE
An emergency meeting of executive body of All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) was recently held in connection to Chakma candidates selected in the list of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination. The Union condemn the irresponsible Commission members for deliberately entertaining the forms submitted by Chakma candidates when the entire Arunachal Pradesh is burning since last 50 years from this vexed issue.
In the meeting the Union has passed a resolution to go for district bandh call if their names are immediately not removed from the selection list.
The Union has threatened to declare district Bandh Call on 26th November 2017 the examination date of APPSCCE (Preliminary) and also on first date of next State Assembly Session.
On the other hand the Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students’ Union (APCSU) appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu not to take any decision to illegally remove the names of four Chakma aspirants from the list of eligible candidates for the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examinations (APPSCCE) scheduled for November 26.
The appeal has come in the backdrop of the demand made by All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) on Thursday for the immediate removal of the four Chakma aspirants from the list.
“As citizens of India and domicile of Arunachal Pradesh, the Chakmas and Hajongs have every right to sit in any competitive examinations conducted by the Union of India, State Governments or any other public authority subject to fulfillment of the prescribed eligibility conditions,” APCSU said in a statement.
The Chakma students’ body clarified that all the four students are citizens of India by birth under the Citizenship Act, 1955 and are therefore eligible for sitting in the said examination under General Category.
