Sona, also festival chairman, expressed grave concern over past year’s untoward incident when a few tourists were allegedly attacked and exhorted everyone concerned to ensure non repetition of such episode.
The festival normally held from November 23-25 but dates would be extended for coinciding with International Tourism Mart, Sona said, adding the new dates will be announced soon.
Shi-Yomi district administration begun preparations for the annual event, Adventure@Mechuka (A@M), scheduled in picturesque Mechuka Valley later this month.
Presenting an overview on the event earlier, festival director Moji Riba said that the organizing committee has decided to restructure the festival henceforth on the basis of feedbacks and suggestions from stakeholders and well wishers.
Shi-Yomi DC Mito Dirchi, SP Gothombu Dajangju, Mechuka ADC Bairo Sorum and district tourism officer Rita Yorung addressed the meeting attended HoDs, Indian army and ITBP personnel.
The annual adventure extravaganza involving propelled glider and micro-light glider rides, aero-modelling, paragliding, trap shooting, mountain biking, river crossing, rappelling, rafting, trekking, zorbing and rock climbing, aims at promoting adventure tourism in the State.
