Arunachal: Chalo Loku celebrated at Deomali

“Chalo Loku” the festival of Nocte tribe of state today celebrated with great enthusiasm and passion at the general ground here at Deomali in Tirap district with participation of hundreds of people from all walk of life.

Addressing the festival as Chief guest Arunachal Pradesh, Sports and Youths Affairs Minister Mama Natung said that festival bring happiness and give lots of message among the members of community and provide us rejoicing with lots of fun fare and happiness.

Every festival have lots of message for the community and tribe and others members of society for wellbeing for peace tranquility and communal harmony and brotherhood, Minister said.

Natung said that it is a pride to know that the Nocte tribe has been maintaining the traditional attire but need to maintain even in future and the responsibility lies with our youths who can protect carry forward the legacy of our traditional and rich cultural heritage of the tribal society of state in world over.

Our state rich of flora and fauna, diversity with more than 120 tribes with different dialect and rich cultural heritage different traditional attire and different food habits, we need to protect and preserve so that our tradition and culture of different tribes of state are maintain and our identity is intact. He said.

Referring the youths involvement towards unwanted element and other including drugs etc, Natung said that GOI has been insisting for the development of games and sports and development of youth affairs there has been three sports academy approved for state and one has been propose for Tirap changlang and Longding area, fund for the up gradation for Wangcha Rajkumar college sporting activities and a stadium has been kept.

Our state has lots of potential for development of games and sports and appeal to join sports so that the mind is not diverted in other unwanted elements.

He also emphasis that playing games and sports will keep man fit and fine with a healthy body and sound mind and remain for long life. He also appeal all section of society to join with the fit India movement launched by Prime Minister so that all section of people remain healthy, fit and fine.

He assured to take up schemes for the area which include construction of football ground and other sporting activities at circle level and other important area of district and state.

Guest of honour, Pakke Kessang MLA Biyuram Wahge in his address lauded the Nocte people for upholding the tradition and emphasis to continue for future for upholding the traditional and cultural identity.

He urge upon all to protect wild life specially the Hornbill which is also a symbol of our tribal society,

Wahge urge upon all to make a united approach in celebration of all festival in a Pan Arunachal way so that we all live together and with love, brotherhood and also maintain communal harmony in peace and tranquility.

Minister PHED & Water Supply and local representative Wangki Lowang in his address said that our tradition is our culture and our culture is our identity. We need to put united approach for the protection of tradition and culture.

He said Chalo Loku festival is celebrated after harvest where the locals get time and enjoy for good cultivation in next year. The people of all section of Nocte tribe leaving all differences and enmity enjoy together with songs and dances, we eat and drink together and enjoy and wish that the coming years remain a happy one for all and pray for the wellbeing of the humanity for peace and harmony and brotherhood

Chalo Loku festival committee President Lapchang Aboh among other also address the gathering.

Among other ADC Deomali, senior officers from civil and defense, HODs of the area and large numbers of local people were present on the occasion.

Several cultural extravaganza and local dances were performed by various cultural troops which  mesmerized  the audience with thunderous applause.

Earlier the dignitaries attended few ritual and traditional games and sports programmes.
