Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to clean up River Suil at Joram

Tage Taki Parliamentary Secretary Food & Civil Supply and Kemo Lollen Deputy Commissioner Lower Subansiri district along with Hundreds of School students and the villagers of Joram participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to clean up the lone river Suil at Joram on Thursday as chief guest and guest of honor respectively. The programme was organised by All Joram Forest Preservation Committee (AJFPC) with the theme of “Mission clean Suil river-2017”.
Appreciating the AJFPC and villagers Taki said water is being the basic need of human one should conserve and keep clean the river. Nature is next to god and villagers should believe that observance clean your village is your religion. The rivers in Ziro and Joram are not perennial and can be dried up anytime. To tackle such situation people should stop deforestation, build small wells to store rain water and keep clean the river, he said.
While Joram Tat General Secretary BJP Yuva Morcha while speaking said the river Suil once was big river that sometimes created flood like situation. But due to haphazard deforestation and multi channelling of water for agriculture purposes has dried it up now. He requested Tage Taki to approach the government for sanctioning protection wall to conserve the Six Kilometer long stretch Suil River in his one point memorandum. While Tage Taki promised to bring the request to the concerned authority at the earliest.
Keomo Lollen in his words asked the people of the village to make Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as practice of lifestyle. Such awareness programmes will come and go but people should engage them to cleanliness drive every day at least in their concerned compound. One should not wait for the government to provide fund relating cleanliness because healthy surrounding creates healthy living, he added.
