3rd State level Hangpan Dada memorial trophy concludes with jubilation West Siang crowned men’s football, Papum Pare crowned women’s football champions.

West Siang was crowned men’s champion in football of the third edition of the state level Hangpan Dada memorial tournament, 2018 – 19 here today.
In the title clash at Tezu Jubilee ground, West Siang humbled Upper Subansiri by 2-1 goals. At initial match of first half Upper Subansiri scored the goal, West Siang pumped in two goals in the second half to seal the fate of West Siang.
West Siang walked home with a cool Rs 5 lakhs and a trophy while the runners up had to contend with Rs 3 lakhs and a trophy.
The energetic Papum Pare won the women’s football trophy was richer by Rs 5 lakhs while runner-up Capital Complex was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs.
Kamle district who clinched the men’s volleyball trophy was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs while Capital Comlplex collected Rs 1 lakh, as runner-up.
Kurung Kumey won the women’s volleyball trophy and was rewarded with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs while Capital Complex as runners up collected Rs 1 lakh.
While attending the closing ceremony as chief guest, Chowna Mein DCM said that a sport has tremendous scope to make it as career. He said games & sports in Arunachal since last few years brought lots of laurel by the talented youth in Badminton, Karates, Hushu, and Weightlifting while participating in national, commonwealth and Asian games. “We will take care of their proper coaching in recruiting coaches at every district”, he says.
The DCM also praised Minister Sports & Youths Affairs and the Lohit District administration, Sports & Youths Dept Lohit for the successful conduct of the biggest sporting extravaganza of the state.
Minister Sports & Youths Affairs Dr Mohesh Chai as guest of honour also appreciated the hidden talent in the youths and highlighted number of upcoming infrastructures including Indoor Football Stadium, Sports Academy in TCL (Tirap Changlang and Longding), and Multi – Purpose Hall etc to promote sports in Arunachal.
A team from Mumbai Sports Analyzers, GRIT Sport & Psychologist Consultancy Mumbai also participated in the closing ceremony to analyze the games.
Sports director Tadar Appa, DW Thungon SP Lohit, Kapriso Krong former Minister, officials of sports department Itanagar, District’s head of Officials were present during the closing ceremony.
