Assam- Army Apprehends two GNLA Caders

In two different operations on 16 Feb 2017 carried out jointly by Red Horns Division of Gajraj Corps and Assam Police, two Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) cadres were apprehended from Goalpara district.
One apprehended individual was identified as Polning Sangma, age 24 years S/O Captan Momien. One Country made pistol, 70 rounds of live ammunition, one mobile phone and three GNLA demand notes were recovered from the individual.
Second individual was apprehended from village Gandimpathar of Goalpara District, identified as Ajay Momin, 24 years. One Factory made pistol with magazine and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the individual.
Recovery of the weapons and apprehension is a major setback to the chances of the banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) to regroup and will further diminish their capability to carry out subversive activities in the near future.
