MoU signed Between SRRURDS Foundation of Thailand and Mahabodhi Lord Budha College of Namsai

In a significant and positive development towards promoting cooperation and collaboration between the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Surindra Rajabhat University Regional Development Strategies (SRRURDS Foundation) of Surin Province, North East of Thailand and Mahabodhi Lord Buddha College of Namsai District, Arunachal Pradesh at Golden Pagoda Eco-Tourist Resort this evening
The MoU was signed in line with the development of friendly international cooperation with mutual interests in developing programs of academic exchange and for the purpose of establishing a long-term mutually beneficial association between the two institutes for fostering cordial relations between the people of the Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand.
The MoU was signed by Associate Professor Dr Achara Phanurat, Ex-President of Surindra Rajabhat University Regional Development Strategies (SRRURDS Foundation) and Ven. Bhikkhu Panyaloka, Director of Mahabodhi Lord Buddha College, Namsai in presence of the Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein and Mr Tharadol Thongruang, Minister Councellor, Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi.
As per the MoU, both the institutes agreed to proceed the activities in academic and research cooperation, cultural activities for international development in educational institutions using international journals, magazines as a stage for academic exchange.
Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein while terming the step as a significant one said, “this MoU has taken the Act East Policy in high spirit” and said that the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh is committed to bring Act East Policy into practical. He said that this way we can build friendly relations by conducting cultural exchange, linguistic and research activities between Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand as we have similar type of cultures, religion and linguistic affinities. He reiterated on strengthening ties with other South East Asian Countries, which would be beneficial for development of tourism as well as for economic development of our state.
Mr Tharadol Thongruang, Minister Counselor, Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi said, “this is like a family re-uniting” and expressed hope that this small step will expand in a big way in coming days. He said that Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand is very close to each other separated by few mountains. The old routes that links Arunachal Pradesh and North East of Thailand could be re-opened for building better relationships in future, he opined.
hile lauding the Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein for the initiative, he said to extend all possible support from the Thai Govt and the SRRURDS Foundation to the people of the state whoever would be willing to come to Thailand for studies and other research works.
Dr Gerhard Heller, a famous research scholar from Germany who was also present in the occasion said, “Arunachal Pradesh is not only a bio-diversity hotspot but also a cultural hotspot” and the state offers a huge scope for tourism and cultural & spiritual research works.
While quoting Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, “Terrorism Devides, Tourism Unites”, Dr Joram Beda, Secretary Planning and Tourism sought the help of Thai Embassy in New Delhi to extend Thai tourist to Arunachal Pradesh too which would help in promotion of Arunachal Tourism and also boost the economy of the state.
Among others, Chow Zingnu Namchoom, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Ravi Dhawan, OSD to Chief Secretary, Monks from the Mahabodhi Lord Buddha College, Namsai and other Thai delegates were present on the occasion.
