Chandrashekhar Vaze, President of Maharastra Sewa Sangh during his keynote address said that the idea of bringing together the top women mountaineers under a single platform was to promote the sport of mountaineering in the society through their presentations and deliberations. By witnessing the stories of the famous personalities, the attendees would get a first-hand experience of the courage, determination and the inspiration to motivate themselves and others.
Chief Guest Dr. Rashmi Karandikar, IPS stated that trekking and mountaineering in India has never been in the limelight. But of late it has become a rage as can be observed from the scores of adventure & mountaineering activities taking place throughout the length and breadth of the country. She also said that there is no opportunity, no possibility that has been left un-attempted by today’s women and I salute these fiery women mountaineers who are the role models for a better India.
Six women mountaineers – Padmashree Chandraprabha Aitwal, Anshu Jamsenpa, Santosh Yadav, Suman Kotiyal, Poorna Malawat and Maya Sherpa were felicitated during the convention for their mountaineering achievements.
