Adventure@Mechuka begins to Attract Tourists

The annual Adventure@Mechuka got off to a flying start to attracts tourists in the beautiful valley on the bank of ever cascading Yagyapsu river today. The three days mega extravaganza from 7 to 9 Nov organized at Mechuka in partnership with Ministry of Tourism, GOI and the department of state tourism along with Event Partner, the centre for Cultural Research & Documentation (CCRD) Naharlagun to promote adventure tourism and expose Mechuka as a potential tourist destination.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore Union Minister of state for Information & Broadcasting said that Mechuka is a prestige beauty potential enough to come in the tourism map of India. Efforts can be made to start passenger air craft in this part of the country after making it as a tourist hub. Documentary on its beauty potential and rich culture is essential and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will be eager to look into that aspect. He also presented a Motor Bike to Mechuka Police Station on behalf of Halo Society Itanagar and released festival calendar.

Kiren Rijiju Minister of state (Home) said that the potential of this boarder area was kept in mind the movement I landed here. The phase of development could not be quickened up due to political instability for the last one and half years. Now the central govt. is in unison with the state govt. development will dawn within this two years a speedy pace. Rs.500/- crore will be specially year marked for the development of the state he said.

 Ninong Ering, MP Arunachal East Parliamentary constituency said that organizing such a festival is great thing to happen and people from all walks of life should join such festivities shedding all political differences. Look East Policy of the centre should be followed in latter and spirit, he said.

Dwelling at length on the background on Adventure Festival, Passang Dorjee Sona MLA Mechuka and Parliamentary Secretary Tourism said that tourism can be a big industry in a place like Mechuka as big industries cannot come up here due to tough terrain. A holistic approach is needed and appealed all whose ever were present to act as ambassador for adventure tourism in Mechuka.

Shri Jarker Gamlin MLA Aalo East and Chairman APEDA was also present on the occasion. Dr. Joram Beda Secretary Tourism, extended to one and all for making the Adventure Festival a successful one.

Rich varieties of traditional folksongs and dances were presented by troupes from Monks of Dong Ningluk CHAM, Ramo, Memba, Aaya, Bo Aao, Bokar, Tato, AMSU, Donyi Polo and Tagin cultural Troups. The local houses depicting traditional houses, rich varieties food stalls satiating the mouth watering needs of tourists, exhibition stalls by different departments, display of traditional arts and crafts, were integral part of the festivities that moved around.

The cultural Night was enthralled by the performances of Adnan Sani Bollywood Singer and Music Director and local singer Shri Liduk Padu. The three days Adventure Gala is poised to offer wide range of activities starting from Quad Biking, Zorbing, Rappeling Horse, Riding, Para Sailling, Para Gliding, PPC, Micro Lite, Water Zorbing, Rafting, River Crossing, Angiling, Trap Shooting, Air Rifle, Air Pistol and Archery.
