The National People’s Party (NPP) Arunachal Pradesh through a press statement strongly condemn the allegedly shot dead of Bengia Tamang (42), GB at the Taba polling station under the 21-Koloriang Assembly constituency in Kurung Kumey District on Thursday afternoon.
In the press release the State NPP stated that five polling booths (PBs), namely Parsi-Parlo, Taba, Nampe, Damin and Nyokuriang were captured by BJP workers on 11th April 2019. NPP supporters were not allowed to reach the PBs to exercise their adult franchise.
In the Press release it is also informed that ” there was a protest rally by NPP workers at Koloriang to express their protest. Moreover, the state NPP unit had apprised Kurung Kummy DEO and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and sought re-polling in those PBs. Accordingly Election Commission of India has accepted and ordered re-polling in those PBs on 27th April 2019, informed in the press release.
The NPP president , Gicho Kabak wrote a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and strongly demanded an enquiry into the tragic incident and disqualification of Lokam Tassar for his alleged involvement in corrupt practices during simultaneous elections “as defined under Section 123 (1) & (2) (a) (i) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951”.
Considering the sensitivity and prevailing law and order situation, the National People’s Party (NPP) Arunachal Pradesh suggests to conduct re-polling centrally at Koloriang to avoid any law and order problems. Moreover, we request Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to deploy sufficient force for free and fair conduct of re-polling, NPP stated.
