Arunachal: Jalley Sonam emphasis for welfare measures to registered workers of APB&OCWWB

A coordination meeting of several leaders of Labours/Trade Union was held to discuss ” how to strengthen and modify the functions of Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Worker Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB).  The Coordination meeting was convened by the Chairman Jalley Sonam at his chamber today.

Addressing the coordination meeting APB&OCWWB Chairman Jalley Sonam said that they are planning to discontinue non-statutory benefits for the labours and provide only mandatory benefits. “If we give so much focus on non-statutory benefit there are more chances of corruption, plus benefit like radio and solar lamp the state government has been distributing can be stopped since electrification is reaching throughout the state,” he added.

He further added that benefits like housing loans, death benefits, education benefit for children fees, maternity leave fee etc., should be increased.

He also said that the board is targeting to provide insurance for more than 40000 labours registered from 2019 onward.

The board has also passed do provide housing loans to workers communities soon which was discontinued due to some reason. The board will be put up in the next board meeting for an amount of 1 lakh initially.

Sonam also informed that the board and the union will check and monitor whether the cess are regularly distributed or not.

He informed that he is planning for making compensation card for all registered under the board.

Labour commissioner and Secretary APB&OCWWB Ojing Darang elaborated several measures taken up by the board. He also updated the works of the board. He also elaborated about the enhancement of pay and salaries and regularization of staffs.

APB&OCWWB OSD Ashok Sonam explained about the do’s and don’ts for Registration officers (RO) working across various districts. He also expressed the need of cooperation among the RO and Board office for successful implementation of any scheme.

All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) President Dobing Sonam raised the issue of inclusion of Transportation worker’s in Board. He also demanded for establishment Motor Transportation Welfare Fund Board in state by the present government.
