Lets make this hidden paradise a known paradise’ said Dr.Subhash Ramrao Bharke , Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Defence during his visit to Tawang today. He was accompanied by Sri.Kiren Rijiju , Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Lt.General Suresh Sharma, DG, BRO .The VIPs were received by Sri.Tsering Tashi, Honble MLA, Tawang, Sri.Sang Phuntsok,IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, SP Tawang and others at Khrimu Army helipad, post which a meeting was held with the HoDs , Army, paramilitary forces and public leaders at Zomkhang Hall.
While terming the State as an integral part of the nation and highlighting on the commitment of the government towards the region, MoS (Defence) assured to review all defense related issues within the district at the earliest. He expressed disappointment over the fact that inspite of various attempts, by road inspection of Dirang to Tawang BRO road could not materialise the day before.
Sri.Kiren Rijiju apprised the MoS (Defence) of the difficulties faced in evacuating the emergency passengers and also reflected on how the bad road conditions has adversely affected the economic growth of the district by hampering the tourism industry. While introspecting on the need of policy changes with regard to the BCT road construction, he informed that the remaining work would be taken up in a planned and phase wise manner. Further, with regard to to the traffic movement he requested the concerned agencies to work out and act in coordination so as to ensure convenience to the passengers and at the same time also assure that the ongoing work is not affected.
Sri.Tsering Tashi, MLA Tawang while thanking the dignitaries for the visit, highlighted the core issues which mainly included the bad road conditions and compensation issues of the Trans Arunachal Highway. He also informed that inspite of limited land holdings of individuals in the region where agriculture is the main source of livelihood in the , a large part of land has been given for military establishments, compensation of which are yet to be paid to the land owners. He further requested the dignitaries to take up the issues at the highest level.
Memorandums were also submitted by HMLA, Tawang, BJP unit Tawang and Villagers of Bomja under Jang division.
