After CM assurances RHEP MoU demand committee suspended its agitation

After assurances from the Chief Minister Pema Khandu , the Ranganadi Hydro Electric Project (RHEP) MoU demand committee temporarily suspend its agitation, which was to start from April 1 next. The Chief Minister today assured the MoU Demand Committee to look into long pending issues concerning 405-MW RHEP.
The Chief Minister assured to call a meeting with board of directors of the company to discuss on issue of fresh MoU, discrepancies in land compensation and deprivation of jobs to local youths. Also he assured to immediately take up the matter with Union Ministry of Power.
Stating that the issue is new to him, Khandu appealed the committee to give time to study the matter. In this regard, he directed the department of hydropower to collect all documents, letters and information regarding RHEP project and to maintain a set for easy reference.
The committee earlier in its memorandum appealed for establishment of NEEPCO ED office at Itanagar and strict implementation of CSR-CD schemes on need basis. It also demanded for 1% free power for local area development from NEEPCO.
The meeting was attended by former Chief Minister and Sagalee MLA Nabam Tuki, Supply and Transport Parliamentary Secretary Likha Saaya, Commissioner Finance Ashis Kundra and RHEP MoU committee chairman Taba Techi.
