Protest march continue near Chessa area bordering Assam in view of the recent suspected rape, kidnapping and murder of a minor girl. The body of the decease was found in Rajgarh roadside inside Arunachal on August 19 morning.
Hundreds of students from Lower Primary, Middle school and secondary school of Simalguri on August 20 carried out peace march of around 4 Kilometre demanding justice for the deceased and at the same time for peace and tranquillity in the area.
The women groups of the area also organised a dharna. Hundreds of local sitting on this dharna demanded immediate arrest of culprit involved in the incident and award of exemplary punishment as per law.
Naharlagun SDPO Make Bui who was present on the occasion informed that situation in the area is under control and no any untoward incident have been reported from the area.
Elaborate security arrangement have been made by the police administration from both side of the boundary.
ASP North Lakhimpur and OC Bihpuria from Assam side and SDPO Naharlagun with Banderdewa is monitoring the situation in the area.
He said a meeting with the women groups and locals of the area was held near Chessa in Assam side where the locals have demanded immediate arrest of the culprit within 7 days.
The locals have also demanded patrolling by the police of both side of boundary regularly for safety and security of children and others issue.
Bui however assured support of Arunachal Police to its counterpart during the course of investigation of the case and even for sharing of information for maintaining of peace in the area.
He also appeal the people to maintain peace and tranquillity so that the investigation takes place smoothly.
