The Land of Golden Pagodas- Namsai is all set to hold the convention on preservation, promotion and propagation of Buddha Sasana on September 16th next at Kongmu Kham (Golden Pagoda) at Noy Chenam (Tengapani), Namsai. The convention is being jointly organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha and the general public of the district in order to promote and propagate the Theravada Buddhist Teachings.
The convention is going to be the first of its kind to be held in Namsai district where huge numbers of Bhikkhu Sangha, Heads of villages, NGOs, Student’s, Youth organisation and people from different walk of life are expected to participate and share their views.
Chow Khanchiang Namchoom is the Chairman of the High-Power Committee with Venerable Ratnadeepa Mahathero as General Secretary and Chow Meokhun Mongmaw as Secretary of the Convention Organising Committee.
Charter of duties and responsibilities has been distributed and programme has been chalked out by the organising committee to hold the convention successfully in the district.
Striving for promotion and propagation of the Buddhist Sasana, to preserve foster and develop Buddhist literature arts and crafts and to develop human resources for strengthening the dispensation of the Buddha Sasana will be some of the key points for discussions during the convention.
Sasana is a Pali word which means dispensation and it is a term used by Buddhists and lay people to refer to their religion or non-religion. So, to say, Buddha-sasana is a time period which Dhamma (Pali Canon) existed and followed. It is totally 5000 years after the Buddha’s Parinirvana.
