Frequent disruption of power supply irk locals
Itanagar
The frequent disruption to power supply in different sector and colony irk the locals in capital complex.
The disruption of power supply is beyond imagination of the local residents of different colony and sectors of capital complex. Few local resident of Itanagar as well as Naharlagun very unhappy and shows their displeasure over the hide and seek of game played by the power department in maintaining power supply. But when anyone wanted to know there is no helpline nor any enquiry number whom to contact for enquiry related to power supply in general.
Capital Electrical Division Executive Engineer Nido Taka said for Itanagar have a requirement of minimum power supply of 15.5 MW while Naharlagun Electrical Division Executive Engineer Ajay Murtem said that there is required 12 MW in peak hours and 11 in normal tiem. Both of them said that we have no problem in getting power supply from the grid as we purchase it.
When asked about frequent power disruption in different parts of Itanagar Taka said that the supply disruption is mostly due to falling of trees and electricity poles either due to landslide and heavy downpour. But in some cases there are internal problems like fault in line which are not directly identified without proper verification and inspection of mechanic and technicians at the specific place and in this process it delayed and faulty place is not identified due to darkness in some cases and the rectification is not been able to do it in night Taka said.
When asked why there have been frequent disruption of Power Supply in C-I, C-II, Bank Tinali, Ministers Bungalow at ESS Sector and some parts of C Sector for last seven days but since June 14 last evening there was no light at all area Taka said that there was fault in line which was rectified after involvement of all technical officials and engineers of the division and we are charging the transformer and the power supply will be through Taka said.
Naharlagun AE Pura Khankhu said that there is no problem supply received and distribution but in some cases the faults identified in transformers, it took some time to repair the line and faults at various level and we need permission from SLDC due to which it takes time.
Naharlagun Circle Superintending Engineer Rubu Tago when contacted said that we have been pursuing for a toll free helpline number with BSNL which have not been materialised but in case of emergency anyone can contact to Executive Engineer of the division,
but it is a matter of great concern weather a common man can directly able to contact with Executive Engineer for any normal enquiry ?
Even though in case of emergency one can contact the AE-I Nabam Gameng-9436047111, AE-IV Lova Gadi-9436254685 and EE CED Nido Taka-9485235166 for Itanagar while for Naharlagun EE Ajay Murtem-9436229078.
However the power supply was restored at around 7.30 evening in C Sector and Bank Tinali area and few locals who in return called this daily that they have lots of work and first is to charge their mobile handset then to emergency light and many more and watch India Bangladesh cricket match.
