Assam: Gauhati University wins overall Championship in the 35th UNIFEST 2019-20
Banaras Hindu University and Manipur University won the 1st and 2nd Runners up titles respectively.

The 35th Inter University East Zone Youth Festival (UNIFEST) 2019-20 concluded on 15th November at the RGU campus. Gauhati University bagged the over-all Championship Award on the platform which showcased rich cultural legacies from across the East Zone. Banaras Hindu University and Manipur University were the other two universities who won the 1st and 2nd Runners up titles respectively.
Prof. K.P.S Shante, AIU Observer, expressed his profound and sincere feelings of elation and congratulated everybody associated with the event on its grand success. He further added that RGU has set new standards in professionalism and management in terms of a 2year old university.
Prof. P. J. Mahanta, Dean, RSHSS, speaking on the occasion, expressed his happiness on team RGU standing tall at the expectations of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to conduct the 35th UNIFEST.
Prof. (Dr.) S.P Singh, Vice Chancellor & Patron, in his speech emphasized on the need for strong emotions of anger and vigor within one. Everybody, he said, is hurting and has some form of pain within, which when converted into anger, can help strike the match of motivation and kindle the fire which leads one to success.
A violin recital was performed by Banaras Hindu University and a Manipuri Dance by Manipur University during the Valedictory Ceremony. RGU also welcomed the Chief Patron Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Singh through a Bihu performance on the stupendous success of the UNIFEST.
During the five day festival, the campus came alive with joyous scenes, as students participated in various competitions from theatre, music, dance, fine-arts to literary events. Above all, the Inter University Youth Festival gave students from across the region, a chance to discover and develop qualities of mutual respect, love, communal harmony and national integration.
