A Re-usable Sanitary Napkin Production Unit inaugurated by Dr. Devansh Yadav, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Changlang at Wakhetna , Bordumsa.

On the occasion Dr. Yadav, assured to procure 1000 sanitary pads under School Health, Hygiene & Nutrition Programme to support the production unit run by SHGs. He also announced to provide a marketing outlet at Monday Market for sanitary pads and other SHGs homemade products. He congratulated NERCORMP, NGOs and SHGs for coming up with the sanitary pads unit for women which will reduce health related issues.

The Sanitary Unit will be run by “Nightingale SHGs Federation” comprising of 12 SHGs which are promoted by Bordumsa Mahila Mandal-NGO supported by NERCORMP.

The SHG Federation now is in the initial phase of production of low cost sanitary pads targeting girls and women living in rural and remote areas of the Changlang district at affordable price. It is an initiative taken jointly by the Jatan Sanstha, Rajesthan and NERCORMP Changlang to provide menstrual hygiene to women and girls who cannot afford expensive napkins.

Mr N Sukajit, DPD NERCORMP in his welcome address, expressed that introduction of sanitary napkin at an affordable price would improve the menstrual hygiene management and health for adolescent girls and women residing in such a remote area.

Kamal Roy, DDM, NABARD who attended the programme as guest of honor spoke about supporting need-based skill development programmes to this sanitary pad unit under Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) of NABARD for matured SHGs which already have access to finance from Banks.
