Vivo’s Xplay 5 Elite: world’s First Smartphone with 6 GB Of RAM
Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo rolled out the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite, the world,s first smartphone that carries 6 GB of RAM. Company also released a more affordable version of the phone, the Vivo Xplay 5, which packs 4 GB of RAM.
Both handsets run Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vivo’s custom Funtouch launcher. The Vivo Xplay 5 Elite will be priced approximately Rs 44,308, while the Xplay 5 will sell for approximately Rs 38,215.
Vivo Xplay 5 Elite is a dual-SIM flagship that features premium build qualities. its chassis is made of metal and the screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 4 protection layer. The phone resembles Samsung’s flagship line of double-curved displays.
Xplay 5 Elite holsters a Super Amoled screen of 5.43-inch that displays 1,440 x 2,560p resolution, and its graphics come to life thanks to an Adreno 530 GPU. The processing power relies on a four-cored Snapdragon 820 SoC, which runs at 2.15GHz and is backed by the aforementioned 6 GB RAM. Looking at the optics of the handset, the Xplay 5 Elite confirms rumors that hinted at a strong camera-combo.
Vivo has also packed in 128GB of internal storage and a fingerprint reader on the back. For the cameras, the smartphone maker went with a 16MP Sony IMX298 rear camera along with PDAF and dual tone LED flash. One will also find an 8MP front facing camera on the device. As for the connectivity options, the Xplay 5 Elite packs in dualSIM slots, LTE radios and a 3600mAh battery.
Coming to the more affordable version, the Vivo Xplay 5, we get the same hardware in terms of a Quad HD display and 128GB of storage but cuts down on the processor and the RAM. The Xplay 5 gets a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 with 4GB of RAM.
So far, there are no details about Vivo rolling out these handsets to global markets.
