Remembering the period of Emergency from 1975 to 1977, Minister for Power and Industry, Tamiyo Taga said that the Congress imposed Emergency for the sake of its own leaders. ‘There are  only few section where emergency can be imposed  in India  but defying all such norms  the than Prime Minister of India ,Indira Gandhi had  pressed for  Emergency only to save his  political  career’ added Taga .

While  recalling the history, Taga said  ‘once  Indira ji was been  portrait  as goddess ‘ Durga ’  by former Prime Minister and BJP leader Atal Bihari Bajpayee  due to her strong perception during the Bangladesh war  that compelled Pakistan to surrender , but  after declaration  of emergency thousands of people throughout the country started agitation against her decision of  imposing emergency and against the Congress leadership.

Echoing similar sentiment, BJP state Organization Secretary Ramesh Kadaganchi said ‘the Congress had murdered democracy for the benefit of its own leaders’. The decision to declare emergency was taken inside the ‘Kitchen Cabinet’ where few congress leader close to Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi attended that meeting.

Congress has no right to point fingers at the BJP  led Government while having a black chapter of Emergency in past where fundamental rights has been curtailed ,lakhs of political leader from BJP and other party were arrested  and rights of media has been curtailed’ slammed  Ramesh. He further added that the slogan given by the than Congress leaders ‘ Indira is India –Indira is Congress’ is totalitarian  and not acceptable at all.
