Film institute in Arunachal, very prestigious project- Khandu

Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday emphatically said the film institute in Arunachal is a very prestigious project for the state as it was announced in the budget 2017 and assured to extend all possible help from the state.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the opening of prestigious National Film and Television Institute and Animation (NFTIA), Arunachal that has started teaching courses on film making since yesterday.

The institute, which is a sister branch of Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata has begun its classes from its temporary campus in Itanagar that has 25 students enrolled who are pursuing an initial ten-week course named as ‘Journey to Cinema’.

This was informed by the SFRTI Director, Dr. Debamitra Mitra when she called on Chief Minister at his office to discuss on the newly functional institute in Arunachal accompanied by IPR Director, Obang Tayeng.

The Chief Minister was informed that the basic course involves cinematography, editing, sound designing and direction.

The Chief Minister said the ambience in Arunachal provides best shooting spot and suggested the Director of SFRTI who is on her first visit to Arunachal to take more such visits to know Arunachal more.

He suggested the institute official to enroll as many students from Arunachal who are naturally gifted with creativity and felt that such institute would act as a catalyst to promote talent in different aspects of film making. To help such youths who wants to explore in the field of creativity such as film making, the Chief Minister informed that state government has come up with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swalamban Yojana to support funding for such projects.

Discussing on institute’s permanent campus proposed at Jote, the Chief Minister informed that the construction work would start before September and meanwhile assured full support of the state government for efficient functioning of the temporary campus.

He also assured support for the institute in obtaining affiliation from a UGC recognized university for its degree courses and post graduate diploma course, which will be a value addition for the students.
