The two-day BJP national executive meeting began here on Saturday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah.
From Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Dy chief minister Chowna Mein, State BJP president Tapir Gao and Union Mos for Home Kiren Rijiju also participating the meeting.
In his Inaugural Address BJP Chief Amit Shah has asked his cadre not to be complacent after the massive election victories in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and underlined that the golden period for the party will begin only when it rules from “Panchayats to Parliament” and forms a government in states like Odisha , Bengal, Kerala, Tripura and Telangana.
The choice of Odisha as the national executive venue highlights Mr. Shah’s focus on the state as he believes that the party can boost its prospects here due to anti-incumbency against BJD chief and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has been in power since 2000, and declining fortunes of the Congress
Like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha is another state where the BJP is hoping to deepen its roots in the state on the back of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity.
