Namsai- Mass Protest Against Attack on Police Team

Mass Protest was organised by various organizations of Namsai District in protest against the attack on police party by the villagers yesterday. They have come together to show solidarity to the police team and to raise their voice against unprecedented barbaric physical attack on SP Namsai and his team of police officials. The police team was on a routine raid in Silatoo Miri village under Lekang circle to nab the dreaded drug peddler in the area.
Condemning the incident in strongest terms, the organizations demanded for immediate arrest of all culprits involved in the barbaric attack.
A joint memorandum in this regard by NGOs, Mahila mandals, Student unions of Namsai was submitted to EAC Lekang circle showing unanimous support on the action of police on duty against drug menace.
Mass protest rally by various NGOs, Student union and public was also held today which culminated at Mahadevpur Police Station. Later, they also submitted the 5-point memorandum in the police station.
Showing deepest concerns to the victims and condemning the act in the highest manner, All Tai Khampti Singpho Student Union (ATKSU) termed the act as highly uncivilized and condemnable. We convey our solidarity with the victims and attacks on the custodian at Law.
Terming the incident as cowardly and pre planned, All Namsai Area Youth Association (ANAYA) led by its President Tichanam Singkai and General Secretary Rajana Manpoong said that the event is attempt to murder law in broad daylight to malign police force who went on to the normal duty is highly condemnable. ANAYA urged the district administration to form narcotic team in the district to control the drug menace as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, police team led by EAC Mahadevpur and SP Tezu & Namsai arrested Kunu Mili and his son today and is put behind bars in Mahadevpur Police Station.
