N.F.Railway organises health camp for flood affected people

A health camp for the flood affected people was organised on 29th July, 2017 by the Medical Department of N.F.Railway at Bogolijan village under North Lakhimpur district. This village which is located about 6 kms away from the North Lakhimpur town including its surrounding areas were submerged by flood waters of Ranganadi river. On the day of the Health camp, the village along with some of the roads were submerged under water.

Four doctors from N.F.Railway including Dr. B.Sonowal, Chief Medical Director, Dr. I.L.Tuolor, Paediatrician, Dr. Ramesh Prasad, Asst. Divisional Medical Officer, Rangapara and Dr. N.Sonowal participated in the camp. Six doctors from the AMC 1974 Batch Association namely Dr. Jogananda Das, Dr. Meera Bora, Dr. Snigdha Barua, Dr. Awahizur Rahman, Dr. Reena Saikia and Dr. Indira Gogoi also attended the Health camp. Dr. Harpal Singh, Jt. Director (Health), North Lakhimpur District along with other district level health officials were also present.

There were large gathering at the health check up camp and about 515 nos of patients were examined and free medicines were supplied to them as per prescription by the specialist doctors which also included one Dermatologist. Large numbers of patients were from the Paediatric age group, who were attended by Dr. I.L.Tuolor, Paediatrictian. 500 nos bed sheets were also distributed amongst the flood affected households by the AMC 1974 Batch Association. ASHA and other Health workers of Siajuli Mini PHC also rendered all round help in organising the health camp successfully.

It is to be mentioned that as per instructions issued by Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Northeast Frontier Railway has extended all possible assistance to the State Govt. for the aid of flood affected people which included distribution of potable water and running of two special trains to Murkongselek and Silchar from Guwahati.
