Assam: CRS Railway Safety inspects Bigibeel Bridge

The Commissioner of Railway Safety(CRS), NF Circle,  S.K.Pathak, inspected the Bogibel Bridge being built across the river Brahmaputra in the Dibrugarh District of Assam on Monday.  Mr  Pathak inspected the newly constructed broad gauge line from Tangani station in North Bank to Dhamalgaon in South Bank (17 Km) under Tinsukia Division.

At first he conducted a motor trolley inspection of the line from Tangani  Station to Dhamalgaon and then a Speed trial run from Dhamalgaon to Tangani station for opening of the section for passenger traffic.  Pathak inspected double line from Dhamalgaon to Tangani including Y-link for Bogibeel Bridge in course of inspection.

The CRS , NF Circle was accompanied by  S.N.Singh, Chief Administrative Officer/Con-1,  Mohinder Singh, Chief Engineer/Con-4,  R.P.Jinger, Chief Bridge Engineer,N.F.Railway,  M.Alam, ADRM/Tinsukia and other Senior Railway Officials of both N.F.Railway Open Line & Construction Organisation.

The entire Project is undertaken by the NF Railway Construction Organisation. The Boogibeel rail-cum-road bridge 4.94 Km, is a double line BG railway track on the lower deck and three-lane road on the upper deck with CRS sanction the bridge can be opened to Rail traffic. The 4.94 Km long bridge will play a major role in socio-economic development of the region and improving defense logistic.

The foundation stone of this project was laid by the then Prime Minister  H.D.Deve Gowda in January,1997 and commencement of work was inaugurated by late Prime Minister Atal Behari Bajpayee on 21.04.2002.
