Likar Angu, Chief Engineer WRD (WZ) while presenting a power point presentation on PMKSY prepared by the department informed that the State Govt has submitted a proposal of 4.75 crore to the Govt of India for the year 2016-17.
Joram Beda, Secretary Planning informed that till date District Irrigation Planning (DIP) of 9 Districts has been received so far and requested the departments to collect and submit the DIP from rest of the districts as early as possible.
In the meeting, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Bilatee Pertin, Commissioner (Horticulture) with secretaries of WRD, Agriculture, Vatenary, RD and Fishery Departments as its members to prepare the Road Map for making Arunachal a self sufficiency in food grains.
The main concept of PMKSY is efficient water conservation with management practices such as rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and efficient use of rainwater, groundwater and canal water through precision irrigation of drip and sprinkler and other conservation techniques which could enhance the crop yield by increasing the area under irrigation.
Secretaries, Directors and senior officers of Agriculture and allied sectors attended the meeting.
