Tawang: Admin seized Tobbaco products from 100 yards of educational institutions
The surprise raids were made in various shops operating within 100 yards of educational institutions. The seized items included Gutkas, Zarda, Bidis and cigarettes.

A surprise raid was conducted today jointly by the District Administration and the District Tobacco control cell (DTCC) Tawang with the help of police personnels and seized huge quantity of Tobacco products.
The surprise raids were made in various shops operating within 100 yards of educational institutions. The seized items included Gutkas, Zarda, Bidis and cigarettes.
The offenders were warned by the administration. Moreover the shops and restaurants/Hotels found not displaying mandatory NO SMOKING sign were also penalized under COTPA act by the flying squad under section 4 of COTPA Act.
The town magistrate Tawang Choiki Dondup, gave awareness to the shopkeepers regarding selling of tobacco products to minors and within 100 yards of educational institutions as punishable offence under section 6a & 6b of COTPA. The team of flying squad comprised of Town magistrate Choiki Dondup, Dr. Sangey Thinlay DPO, NTCP Tawang, Koncho Tsering ASI , Genden Chota ASI and Tsowang Rinchin constable.
