Chief Minister Kalikho Pul’s maiden visit to Tezu

Chief Minister Kalikho Pul today landed Tezu to a rousing welcome by various cultural troupes represented by different communities exhibiting the multicultural face of the town.

Soon after the landing, the Chief Minister was briefed about the work status of Tezu airport, Which is the  only civilian airport in Arunachal, its runway, terminal building and air traffic control tower was completed in 2014. The airport when completed can handle ATR 72 type of aircraft, and would be made operational by June this year, informed the officials.

The Chief Minister was also accorded a rousing reception by the bazaar committee on enroute to circuit house, where he unveiled the “Swachh Lohit, Swasthya Lohit” campaign, organized by the Lohit deputy commissioner. The campaign also has presence in social media, with the organizer using the platform to spread the message of cleanliness, informed deputy commissioner Danish Ashraf.

Mukto MLA Pema Khandu who was also part of the Chief Minister’s entourage, inaugurated the newly constructed building of “Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR)” centre at Tezu.

The team was accorded warm reception at the new building of superintendent of police, which was inaugurated by Mechuka MLA Pasang Dorjee Sona. A ribbon cutting ceremony followed, which was graced by Parliamentary Secretary for home Pakgna Bage.

Continuing with his surprise inspection, the Chief Minister went round the building to check for facilities are in place and in order. SP Isaac Pertin accompanied the Chief Minister during his inspection round.

Further the team on their visit to general hospital was accorded warm welcome by all medical officials, staffs, nurses, Asha workers etc. Tirong Aboh, MLA, Khonsa West inaugurated the new OPD and casualty block, while WRD parliamentary secretary Gum Tayeng initiated the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Tezu MLA Dr Mohesh Chai apprised the Chief Minister about additional funds requirement for the OPD block to make it fully functional.

The CM with his team undertook inspection of the district hospital, its OPD facilities, casualty room, solar battery room, operation theatre and the doctor duty room. He asked the hospital authorities to conduct regular social service in hospital premises to keep it clean.

The Chief Minister also visited the patients admitted in the hospital and enquired on their health conditions. Wishing them early recovery, the CM gifted all the patients a packet of fruits as token of love.

Further the CM inspected the kitchen and storeroom and found it to be in dilapidated condition. He asked the authority to submit inventory and proposals to meet up any shortages.

The Chief Minister visited the 2.1 km long Lohit bridge being constructed by Navayuga, which has been pending for several years despite the company issuing its own completion date.

The CM directed the company officials to increase manpower to speed up construction work. Once the bridge is completed, it will be of great relief to people of Tezu for faster road connectivity to Tinsukia as it is the lifeline of the area, said the CM.

Navayuga officials assured the CM that the work would be completed by September 30 this year. The Chief Minister insisted that by October 1, the bridge should be open for traffic with or without any formal opening ceremony of the bridge. He also directed the district administration to monitor the work progress so that the company does not fail to meet the deadline.

The Chief Minister later in the day inaugurated Angel house, developed by Brahma Kumaris, Tezu in presence of Rajyogini Didi Satyawati Ji, Director, Brahma Kumaris.

Earlier, before landing in Tezu, the Chief Minister who was accompanied by Power Minister TN Thongdok, WRD Minister Kamlung Mossang, Tax and Excise parliamentary secretary Zingnu Namchoo, Aalo MLA Jarkar Gamlin and Commissioner finance Ashish Kundra made an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in eastern Arunachal districts.

The Chief Minister took survey of the flood-hit areas in Pasighat, Dambuk, Roing, Tezu, Chowkham, Namsai and Changlang. He also flew round the namdapha national park to asses the flood damage and the human encroachment due to migration induced by natural disasters.
