Arunachal gets three “National Poshan Awards 2018”

Three officials from Arunachal Pradesh received National Poshan Award  in a ceremony held at New Delhi.

Two Child Development Project Officer(CDPO) and One Supervisor received awards in the  National Poshan Award ceremony held at New Delhi today. Mrs Mailong Taku Moyong, CDPO Mebo ICDS Project, East Siang District and Mrs, Shilakani Namshum CDPO Lekang ICDS Project, Namsai District were awarded block level leadership award.  Mrs  Nuri Elapra was awarded for Individual Excellence Field functionary Award.

The National Poshan awards is institutionalized by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India to recognise exemplary performers in recently concluded Rashtriya Poshan Maah ( National Nutrion Month) i.e. September,2018 under scheme POSHAN Abhiyaan “Prime Minister’s overarching scheme for holistic nourishment”. POSHAN Abhiyaan  scheme through use of technology is a targeted approach in convergence with related departments  strives to reduce the level of Stunting, Under-nutrition, Anemia and Low Birth Weight in Children

The whole country celebrated Rashtriya Poshan Maah by conducting various programs in convergence with various Ministries like  Ministry of Health & Family Welfare ,Ministry of Drinking water and Sanitation, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Minitry of Rural Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Human Resource & Development, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting,Ministry of consumer affairs, food & public Distribution, Ministry of Tribal Affairs,  Ministry of Minority Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sport, AYUSH.

For the Poshan Awards the whole country was divided into four groups. The state of  Arunachal Pradesh was under Group 2 along with Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttrakhand, HimachalPradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The states and UTs were asked to send nominations for various categories of awards like Field functionary awards for Anganwadi Worker, ASHA, ANM, and Supervisors under ICDS, Village Convergence award, Leadership award for block and district officers, State level awards for Best Social Media Campaign,Maximum reach, best innovative use of non-conventional methods.

Mrs. Mailong Taku Moyong, 51 years old CDPO since 1997, put in extra efforts in the campaign for the Poshan Abhiyaan in her block and in the District of East Siang. She organised Recipe competition among  village women to stress on awareness on nutrition. She had been instrumental in crafting song for Poshan Abhiyaan in Adi language which was recorded and was played in all the events during Poshan Maah celebration. She was also part of Radio talk-shows in Hindi and local language aired through All India Radio Pasighat, giving awareness on nutrition.

Mrs. Shilakani Namshum, 53 years old CDPO showed exemplary leadership for the celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah. She organised various programs on Nutrition and Health along with Department of Health, Education, PHED & WS and District Administration. She organised one of the Biggest Poshan Mela in the state where in traditional local foods were displayed by village Women. She guided Anganwadi Children making skits and plays using vegetable characters and explaining the source of vitamins for healthy body.

Mrs. Nuri Elapra, Supervisor under Tezu, ICDS Project, Lohit District was awarded Individual Excellence Field functionary Award. She ensured coverage of all Anganwadi centres and organised 19 Activities along with line departments. Screening of Anemia, demonstration of hand wash technique, weighing of Pregnant women and Children were covered. She was also appreciated for innovative use of technology, like using portable bluetooth speakers  to play messages on nutrition. Audio/video were played from mobile phones during home visits to counsel pregnant and lactating women.
