Arunachal: RGUSU 2016–17 Batch Holds Cleanliness Drive in Itanagar

As part of its annual reunion, the RGUSU 2016–17 batch organised a cleanliness drive and donated essential items at GSS Chimpu and Deepak Nabam Living Home.

ITANAGAR- As part of their annual reunion programme, the Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) 2016–17 batch on January 26 organised a cleanliness drive and distributed sanitation equipment and essential items at Government Secondary School (GSS), Chimpu, in Itanagar.

The programme was jointly organised by the RGUSU 2016–17 batch and the Youth Mission for Clean River, in collaboration with the students and teaching staff of GSS Chimpu. Members of the team cleaned the school campus and donated sanitation equipment and essential supplies, which were formally received by the school in-charge, Kenya Koyu.

Interacting with the students, former RGUSU leader and reunion chairman Neelam Gaap highlighted the objectives of the annual reunion and underscored the importance of cleanliness, health and hygiene in schools and everyday life. He encouraged students to cultivate hygienic practices as part of their daily routine.

Later in the day, the RGUSU 2016–17 batch visited Deepak Nabam Living Home at Division-4, Itanagar. The team interacted with residents, listened to their concerns and gained insights into their daily lives. Sanitation items, clothes and food materials were donated to the living home, where the visiting team was warmly received by the staff and residents.

Addressing the residents, former RGUSU president Tania Tagia delivered a motivational message, urging them to remain hopeful and resilient. He assured them that many people remember them in their prayers for good health and well-being.

Tania Tagia also appreciated Neelam Gaap for initiating the programme and extended best wishes to him for contesting in the forthcoming All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) election for the post of Health and Hygiene Secretary.

Former RGUSU general secretary Dr Prem Taba appealed to people from all sections of society to contribute meaningfully within their capacity, stating that such social initiatives are a long-standing tradition of the organisation and have been undertaken in various districts over the years.

In his concluding remarks, Neelam Gaap expressed gratitude to the residents and staff of Deepak Nabam Living Home for providing the opportunity to serve, and clarified that the initiative was driven purely by personal commitment and a sustained passion for health and hygiene, independent of any electoral considerations.
