29-Year-Old Man Swept Away in Nyamjangchu River in Tawang

The man was reportedly swimming in the Nyamjangchu River at Namtsering village when he was caught by a strong current on Sunday.

TAWANG- A 29-year-old man was swept away by a strong current while swimming in the Nyamjangchu River at Namtsering village under Lumla Circle in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district on Sunday, with a search operation currently underway to locate him.

According to preliminary information, the man was swimming in the river when he was caught in a powerful current and subsequently went missing. He has been identified as the son of former Tawang District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr. Wangdi Lama.

The immediate search and rescue effort involves local villagers and personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Teams are searching stretches of the Nyamjangchu River and surrounding areas in an effort to locate the missing man.

The operation remains underway, with search efforts continuing downstream and around the vicinity of the incident site at Namtsering village.
