Shillong Lajong FC opens Mobile Store to Sustain itself

I-League Club from Shillong, North East India, Shillong Lajong FC inaugurated a first of its kind, Mobile Smartphone showroom in Shillong city on Wednesday.
The shop opening is an initiative taken by Shillong Lajong Football Club in its endeavour to sustain the operations of the Football Club. Hence, the entire proceeds of the “Mobile Centre” will go towards supporting the operations of Shillong Lajong FC.
Lajong players along with the Coaching staff and officials inaugurated the showroom which has been named as “The Mobile Centre”. The shop which is located at Police Bazaar Shillong will cater to different varieties of Smartphone brands.
Shillong Lajong FC CEO & Managing Director, Mr. Larsing Ming Sawyan said, “This enterprise is part of our initiative to think out of the box and come up with revenue models that will help in sustaining the operations of the Club in the long run. In the absence of traditional revenue models for football clubs in India such as broadcasting revenue, central sponsorships etc we have decided to look at unique revenue models to sustain our operations. Mobile distribution and retailing is one of them.”
“Going forward we are looking at creating special purpose vehicles in the field of tourism and hospitality also. We see these ventures as the only viable way of making the club internally self sustainable for the long run.”
