Potin-Pangin TAH tender in 9 package under progress-MoRTH

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) is organizing three days training programme on Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) Mode of Contract in collaboration with Highway Zone, PWD Arunachal Pradesh here at Banquet Hall.

Subash Chandra, MoRTH Regional Officer, Tezpur while speaking to the media persons, said that tender has been invited for Potin-Pangin Highway in 9 packages. He added that September 20 is the due date for bidding for first three packages while bids for next packages will be received from September 27 and October 3.  All clearance including land (right of way) and other are done through state government and hope that they make it clear before the tender is awarded.

He further added that Hollongi to Itanagar and Papu Nallah to Potin roads will be repaired soon. He added that the MoRTH has asked the state government to submit the estimation and DPR to repair the damaged by continuous rains and landslide and assured that the repairing will be done once the Ministry sanctioned an amount.

He also inform that direction have been issued to check and monitor the work progress and quality of the road construction in state capital.

PWD (Highway) Chief Engineer, Toli Basar said that EPC mode EPC mode of contract will help to select competent person for the work and further deliver the final output on time.

Basar said that adoption of EPC mode which is followed everywhere will bring positive change in the execution of work. He added that all the deficiencies have faced in the past in tendering process will be rectified in this mode.

EPC is a prominent form of contracting agreement in the construction industry wherein the engineering and construction contractor will carry out the detailed engineering design of the project to procure all the equipments and materials necessary and then construct to deliver a functioning facility or asset to their clients. Companies that deliver EPC Projects are commonly referred to as EPC Contractors.

When enquired on the work progress of Chandanagar Papu Nallah four lane highways, Nani Tath, Executive Engineer of Naharlagun Highway Division informed that 2 milestones out of 4 milestones have been achieved so far while the 3rd milestone is in progress. He added that the 3rd milestone has to be achieved by December 2019, failing which penalty will be issued.

He said that the last milestone i.e.  4th milestone of the contract should be completed by September 2020.

Resources persons from Indian Academy of Highway Engineers and other senior faculty are imparting the training for engineers from the state. Around 150 participants from Highways, BRO and NHPDCL  PWD are partaking in the training.
