PWD Tali Division EE Bamang Raju informed that the suspension bridge was completed recently in the month of February this year and had been using since then and trial run was successfully done earlier to the traffic flow on it.
He said that huge rock struck the structure of the bridge followed by massive landslide near the bridge due to heavy downpour might be the cause of the collapsed.
He added that all the formalities have been handed over to the PWD department by the work executing agency.
The suspension bridge was constructed by the PWD Tali division with the amount of 14 crores and the work was executed by H B Enterprise.
It is a single-lane bridge covering 280 feet stretch over Kumey River.
It must be mentioned here that load testing was done on February 17 in the presence of DC Kra- Daadi ADC (HQ) Millo Kojin, Tali ADC Biaro Sorum, DDA Tana Teti, and EAC Bamin Tarang.
Two earthmovers, weighing 20 metric tons each, were made to cross the steel suspension Bailey bridge to test the load bearing capacity of the bridge.
Now in every nock and corner it is a discussion that how a newly constructed bridge which have constructed recently and tested and was ready for inauguration have collapse raise several question, but the authority have heen clarifying that it was a disaster caused by the mother nature.
It is learnt from the sources that the MLA Jikke Tako with team of PWD officers and Tali ADC have left for inspection tomorrow and Kra Daadi DC Solung MIji will also inspect the collapse bridge by a day or two.
14 crore amount is very less if 100 crore had been provided the notorious big stone would have been fixed in spot or converted into stone chips for cc wall.
