The capital district administration led by Estate Officer and EAC Itanagar Hengo Basar began its eviction drive from Chandranagar today.
The eviction drive was taken after the state cabinet on October 8 taken a decision for eviction drive to be taken from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah Tri junction measuring 15 metres on both side of the NH-415 from October 23.
The team engaged in eviction including Executive Magistrate, District officials, Capital police, Eviction forces, para military forces, officers from Highway department and others began its drive from the bridge point of the Senki river from Chandranaagr at around 10.30 this morning.
During today’s drive they demolished seven structure only, because as most of the dwelling owners have already dismantle their houses ahead of the drive.

The team of media tried to talk to officers in the eviction drive but they denied to talk to media, however they informed that the drive would continue until further order an officer of the team said.
Estate Officer Hengo Basar unwillingly said that we have been directed not to interact with media, however he said that we have been assign to evict all the encroachment and structure lying in right of way (ROW) and within 15 metres of both side of the NH-415.
The drive is being done as per the government order, since it was supposed to start on October 23 but due to problem in deployment of force it began today. We proceed for eviction as per the Gauhati high court order.
