Arunachal: Bus hits footpath pillar over Kalia Bhomora Bridge, Passengers are safe

Passengers had a narrow escape on Wednesday, when a passenger bus they were travelling hit a small concrete pillar of footpath over Kalia Bhomora Bridge, Nagaon in Assam.

Itanagar-Guwahati bound Blue Hills Bus bearing Reg no. AS 01JC 2188 reportedly hit a small concrete pillar of footpath over Kalia Bhomora Bridge, Nagaon District at around 2:30 am today while heading towards Guwahati from Itanagar. The contact made a loud noise and trembling movement as a result some passengers got panicked and reported attempted of robbery, informed Police.

SP Capital Complex, Tumme Amo informed that they received video footage, voice record and information alleging some robbers had fired bullet at the Guwahati bound Blue Hill bus coming from Itanagar near Kalia Bhomora Bridge and carried out an inquiry.

He informed that no bullet hole and print was found on the bus but added that the bus did sustained damage from the contact with the concrete footpath of the bridge.

He added that the matter was also enquired by SDPO Koliabor, Nagaon Dsit, Assam.

SP Capital further informed that the mangers of Blue Hill counter Naharlagun were enquired about the incident and also contacted the two drivers of the bus.

“As per the narration of the two drivers, most of the passengers were asleep when the bus hit the small concrete pillar of footpath. Reportedly the passengers got panicked. Some thought the bus was about to meet with an accident and shouted the driver to immediately stop the bus while some heard the sound as presumed that some robbers had fired bullet to stop the bus so that the passengers could be robbed and shouted the driver not to stop. The panic driver after driving certain distance stopped the bus. All the crews and passengers got down and checked the bus,” informed SP.

SP also informed that report also received from SDPO Koliabor that the Blue Hill Bus Bearing Reg no. AS 01JC 2188 had hit another bus (Puja Travels) bearing Reg. No. AS 12 AC 7917 which was coming from the opposite direction near Kaliabhumura Bridge, Nagaon Dist.

“Thus, the reports indicate no firing incident took place as alleged but there were some misunderstandings due to shock and darkness. Furthermore, the matter is under investigation,” added SP.
